Coordinates and manages the volunteer program and supports the provider relations activities of the organization.

Essential Job Functions


  • Receives information on new admissions. Assign volunteers and provides them with the necessary information both verbally and in writing.

  • Maintains regular contact with patient/family support volunteers to discuss volunteers’ interactions with patients/families. Assess volunteer’s working relationship with other team members. Keep volunteers informed of any changes in the patient’s condition and plan of care while ensuring timely documentation by volunteers. Offer/provide support to the volunteers and provide additional information and resources to volunteers as needed.

  • Attends interdisciplinary team meetings and participates in the development and review of the plan of care for patients/families.

  • Maintains all necessary volunteer records, including up-to-date volunteer lists, availability, volunteer assignments, volunteer time and mileage records, volunteer cost-saving data, and volunteer personnel files.

  • Participates in volunteer recruitment and conducts volunteer screening interviews.

  • Coordinates volunteer training classes and ongoing volunteer education and support meetings.

  • Coordinates the activities of volunteers not involved in direct patient/family services. Creatively develops, implements and supervises the volunteer program of the hospice utilizing community and regional resources. Coordinates volunteer recognition activities.

  • Participates on committees and performs related duties and projects as assigned. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.


Qualifications

- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
- Must have at least two years' previous experience as a professional or volunteer in a health care, human services or similar agency.
- Previous management or supervisory experience is preferred.
- Must have 24-hour access to a motor vehicle and maintain personal automobile insurance coverage as defined by state law and/or company policy. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance
- Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding patient and company proprietary information.
- Must have the ability to relate professionally and positively and work cooperatively with other employees at all levels.
- Must possess computer skills at a level necessary to accomplish the job
