GENERAL PURPOSE

Responsible for leading and managing all business development activities and sales staff resulting in maximizing market share as evidenced by business growth metrics. Develop and maintain strong partnership with clinical and operations leadership to achieve business growth targets combined with strong clinical care and outcomes. Accountable to increase revenue and market share through effective creation and execution of sales strategies for assigned territory.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Responsible for the design and execution of the business development plan resulting in maximum census growth for assigned territory
  • Gather and analyze local market and hospice utilization data to determine community needs and identify appropriate referral sources
  • Leverage sales software and other data sources to track, analyze and report on business development activities and sales team performance
  • Responsible for orientation, ongoing training, mentoring, coaching, direct supervision and performance management of local sales staff
  • Build partnerships with referral source decision makers and organization leadership, such as “C” suite executives
  • Partner with clinical leaders to ensure sales efforts and clinical operations are aligned to achieve operational, clinical, financial and growth benchmarks.
  • Leads sales meetings to review strategies, dissect results, identify opportunities, engage and solicit input, foster creativity and optimize team effectiveness

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Clinical, healthcare, or related industry experience
  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • Must have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to travel daily to agencies within assigned territory
  • Minimum three (3) years multi-site supervisory experience in outside sales, business development or other related experience (preferred)
  • Minimum five (5) years experience in sales/lead generation in healthcare setting (hospice preferred)
  • Knowledge of healthcare delivery system including levels of care and reimbursement models is preferred
  • Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & BEHAVIORS

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding patient and company proprietary information
  • Must have the ability to relate professionally and positively and work cooperatively with other employees at all levels
  • Must have the ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job
  • Knowledge and experience with Managed Care, Medicare, state specific Medicaid regulations and electronic referral management
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks with changing priorities
  • Ability to work without management oversight
  • Experience with Microsoft office and aptitude to learn company specific systems
  • Effective oral communication skills
  • Understanding and working knowledge of services and programs offered to support community needs

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS

Mobility, reaching, bending, lifting (minimum of 10 pounds), fine hand coordination, ability to read and write, the ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and directions, ability to travel, and ability to remain calm under pressure
